State Election Information

  • In-Person: Election Day registration is available for General elections

    By Mail: Postmarked 7 days before Election Day

    Online: 7 days before Election Day

  • ID requested

    First-time voters must show an ID with photo. All other voters must present ID without a photo (e.g., your SSN card), or sign a statement confirming you are who you are.

  • Unpaid

    Per vote411.org: Connecticut allows voters to request 2 hours off of unpaid leave on Election Day if requested up to two days beforehand.

  • Same-day registration is permitted on Election Day (though not in a primary election).

  • Begins: 15 days before the election

    Ends: 2 days before the election

    (Note: Times and locations vary, so check your polling place to see where/when you can cast an early vote)

  • Absentee/mail voting is available for voters who are eligible through the state’s list of qualified “excuses.”
